Visited on 29th May 2018 – very damp and humid weather, but the church was open so I was able to get photos inside for the first time.
St Mary the Virgin is on a hill above the Hythe in Maldon – this is where the Thames barges moor and there is a great view from the churchyard, down the hill past the Jolly Sailor pub, to the quayside.
I’ve got photos from three separate visits on 30th August 2010, 20th April 2013 and 12th September 2015. I haven’t been inside. These photos are a mixture from all three dates.
This handsome church with its triangular tower is situated right in the middle of busy little Maldon’s High Street, with modern shops and old buildings all around it. They cluster so closely that it’s very difficult to take a shot of the whole church.
I’ve got photos from a couple of walks round the outside, on the 20th April 2013 and the 30th April 2017. I haven’t been inside.
